Local Attractions in Wyresdale, Lancashire, North West

Close by is the town of Garstang, on the banks of the River Wyre with the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the doorstep. The town is steeped in history and has plenty of things for you to do. With the abundant wildlife you can go fishing, bird watching and walking in the beautiful countryside. There are also a wide variety of independent retailers, cafes and restaurants.

A short distance away is Lancaster, a vibrant university city with many historical attractions including the Lancaster Castle and Lancaster Priory and Parish Church. There is also the picturesque Williamson Park with the Ashton Memorial as well as museums including the Lancaster Maritime Museum and the City Museum. In Lancaster there is a strong cultural scene with many shops, bars and restaurants as well as Dukes Theatre.

Scorton is a small village near the River Wyre and located just north of Garstang. The village has three churches, Stouts Bar at the Priory Hotel and also has The Barn which is a garden centre, gift shop, cafe and the Bowland Grill restaurant. There is also the Scorton Vintage and Country Fayre which takes place every year and there are also the hills surrounding Scorton, including Nicky Nook, on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, which are ideal for exploring.

Blackpool, one of Britain's most popular holiday destinations with plenty of thrills, excitment and adventure, is easily accessible from Six Arches Caravan Park. There are the thrilling rides at the Pleasure Beach Resort and the world's longest indoor rollercoaster waterslide at the Sandcastle Waterpark. For those interested in animals there is Blackpool Zoo, home to 1,500 animals, birds and insects from all over the world and the Sea Life Centre for those interested in the weird and wonderful creatures from the deep sea. By night there are the world-famous Illuminations and of course there is the iconic Blackpool Tower, miles of golden sand and much more.

The glories of the English Lakes are around 30 miles away and help make Six Arches the perfect setting for a touring or static caravan holiday. The Lake District is England's largest National Park and includes Scafell Pike, its highest mountain and Wastwater, its deepest lake as well as communities including Keswick and Bowness-on-Windermere. There is plenty to do in the Lake District for all ages and abilities, including walking from ambles around lakes to high ridge walks, biking, fishing, climbing and more all with the stunning backdrop that the Lake District has to offer.
